FIBER

Fiber Optics Technology is the latest advance in data transfer technologies. Since data is transferred through light, meaning lightspeed, it is the fastest known transfer system existing. Fiber Optics cable contain glass or plastics reflecting and transporting light bundles. Not affected inside by any magnetic field, since no electricty contained, they provide a safe transfer of information. Due to their higher efficiency in speed and data amount in long-distance transfer compared to other materials, they are frequently utilized in Fiber Optics communication systems.

Light is being kept in the center of optical fibers. Hence, fiber is moving as a wave guide. Multiple diffusion line or cross mode supporting fibers are called Multimode Fibers (MMF). Fibers only supporting a single mode are called Singlemode Fibers (SMF). MMF’s have usually a wide radiused center and are utilized in cases of strong power short distance communication lines. SMF’s are used for distances over 200 meters.

Connecting fiberoptic cables is more sophisticated than electrical wires or cables. The endings of fibreoptic cables have to be carefully sliced and mechanically melted with an electrical arch. Specially designed removable connectors also serve that purpose.
